Responding to the Responses Before the Responses: A Preemptive Response

I can already hear it. The sound is somebody responding to my previous post, Democracy and Monarchism, by objecting that the U.S. experienced the greatest economic growth ever seen in human history and it was accomplished under republicanism, thus republicanism is shown as the superior political system.

The economic growth under the U.S. in the 19th century was a result of the classical liberal mindset of the general public. There was immense pressure on politicians to keep the economy relatively free, and if they wished to be re-elected, then they had to follow the general public’s wishes to a certain extent. It was in spite of the incentives to expropriate as much and as fast as politicians could that the economy grew robust.
